Wasafi Records’ WCB Wasafi Raymond Shaban Mwakyusa, better known by his stage name Rayvanny, is a Tanzanian rap phenomenon and musician born on August 22, 1993. The singer/songwriter is from Nzovye in Mbeya, Tanzania. He is Next Level Music’s founder and CEO.
His love and enthusiasm for music began in 2011, when he was still in high school. Rayvanny gained experience polishing his abilities and working with a range of musicians as a rap freestyle champion before joining the Tip Top Connection music group in 2012.
He rose to stardom, though, once he joined Diamond Platnumz’s WCB Wasafi Records in 2015. In 2016, he released his first track, “Kwetu,” which quickly became a hit in East Africa and served as the catalyst for the start of his solo career. Rayvanny received a nomination for a 2016 MTV Africa Music Award for Breakthrough Act in the same year.
He received nominations for a number of music awards in 2017, including the BET Award for International Viewers’ Choice, the AEUSA Award for Best New Talent, and the Uganda Entertainment Award for Best African Act. He was also listed as one of MTV Base’s “Acts To Watch” for 2017.
In 2021, Rayvanny founded his own record company, Next Level Music.
Following the publication of his second album, “Sound from Africa,” on February 1, 2021, and his first album, “Flowers,” on February 8, 2020, he has since established himself as an Afro-pop and Bongo Flava performer.
Nyamaza, “Love Nwantiti” with CKay, “Paranawe,” “Number One” ft. Zuchu, and “Woza” ft. Diamond Platnumz are just a few of his well-known recent hits. He has also collaborated with Queen Darleen, Mbosso, GIMS, Frenna, Navy Kenzo, and Enisa.
