Professor Jay, whose real name is Joseph Haule, is a celebrated Tanzanian rapper and former member of parliament for Mikumi. Born on 29 December 1975, he began his music career in 1994 with the group Hard Blasters, achieving fame with their hit song “Chemsha Bongo”. Over the years, Professor Jay has solidified his place in the Bongo Flava scene, producing numerous chart-topping tracks such as “Nikusaidieje,” “Nimeamini,” “Piga Makofi,” and “Vuta Raha”. His contributions to Tanzanian music have earned him several awards, including Best Male Artist at the 2007 Pearl of Africa Music Awards and Best Songwriter at the 2009 Tanzanian Music Awards.
